The Kingdom Come SWAPPIN’ MEETIN’ and Black Bear Festival will be held Oct. 6 and 7 on the Cumberland campus of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.

The 43rd annual Dillion Asher REUNION will be held Oct. 6-7. The reunion will be held on Friday in the Ray Harm Room at Pine Mountain State Resort Park in Pineville with dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. in the dining room of the lodge, and a social gathering and business meeting at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the reunion will be held at Cardinal House in Queendale (close to Dillion Asher’s log cabin). There will be an all-day potluck picnic beginning at noon (bring a covered dish). Attendees are encouraged to bring old photos, albums or any information you would like to share with the genealogical family to the reunion.

HIGHER GROUND will present a new play, Needle Work at 2 p.m. on Oct. 7 at the Godbey Appalachian Center in Cumberland, as part of the Kingdom Swappin’ Meetin’ and Black Bear Festival.

The Bell County Chamber of Commerce will present the second annual CAR SHOW and first annual CHILI COOK OFF from 2-6 p.m. on Oct. 7 on Cumberland Avenue, 19th Street to 21st Street. Registration for the car show is from 1-4 p.m., and the entry fee is $20 (trophies given to winners). Enter your chili for the cook off for $25 (winner will receive $250). The event will also include chili tasting and judging, face painting, games and activities, raffle, live music and DJ, door prizes and more. Join the events for $10.
