Sheriff’s office makes drug trafficking arrests

The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve several warrants for drug trafficking in the Evarts area on Wednesday. The warrants resulted from undercover drug investigations conducted by the sheriff’s office.
The undercover investigations resulted in five individuals being arrested on Wednesday on drug trafficking related charges. Undercover investigations continue by the Sheriff’s Office and additional warrants are outstanding and additional arrests are pending.
“I anticipate approximately 50 additional drug trafficking related arrests over the next few weeks,” Sheriff Leslie Smith said. “I would like to encourage local residents to continue to report illegal drug activity in your community.”
Those arrested include:
• Robert Burkhart, 64, of Evarts, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (methamphetamine);
• Cody Wynn, 32, of Kenvir, second-degree trafficking a controlled substance;
• Cindy Anglian, 30, of Evarts, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance;
• Charles Cole, 44, of Evarts: first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (methamphetamine);
• Zola Farley, 48, of Evarts, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance.
