Harlan County School Nutrition lunchroom managers and district staff are shown with the new refrigeration truck recently purchased to provide important back up freezer protection during periods of extended power outages, mechanical malfunctions of lunchroom equipment and for the safe transportation of foods within the district. A neighboring district recently needed emergency assistance due to a five-day power outage that saved that district several hundred thousands of dollars from spoiled foods. The truck will be beneficial for lunchroom upgrades of freezers and coolers at seven locations between now and the end of the current school year. The truck is available to the school lunchroom managers at a moment’s notice when needed.
