A Harlan man apparently picked a bad place for a nap.

Maxton Bell, 29, was arrested on Sunday by Harlan City Police Sgt. Jeff Owens. He is facing drug charges after allegedly being found asleep and intoxicated in the lobby of the Harlan City Police Department.

According to the citation, Bell was found asleep in the lobby. When awakened by Owens, Bell was disoriented, exhibited slurred speech and could not stand on his own. Bell was told several times to get up but initially refused. Bell was asked if he had anything in his pockets, and he stated he did not. Bell was found to be in possession of a cigarette pack which contained clear baggies containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine. Money was also found in Bell’s possession, and Bell told Owens to take $50 “to help him.” The money was placed back in Bell’s pocket.
