Children in Harlan County are invited to attend the annual “Happy Birthday Jesus” party, an event hosted every year by Hilltop Ministries.

According to Hilltop Ministries Director Glen Marlowe, the party kicks off at 2 p.m. on Dec. 22 at the James A. Cawood Elementary School.

The party will feature milk and cookies for the children, Marlowe said.

While the party is intended to be a lot of fun, it is also an opportunity to help others who may be in need this holiday and winter seasons.

Marlowe pointed out those who wish to make donation may do so at the Happy Birthday Jesus event. The organization is collecting coats, toboggans, shoes, gloves and toys which will be distributed to those in need of the items.

For those who cannot attend the event but would still like to make a donation, there is another option.

Marlowe advised Hilltop Ministries operates a drop off box where donations can be made at 204 County Pike in Loyall.

“It’s right below the Loyall Fire Department,” Marlowe said. “If you can’t drop them off, then we can come and pick them up for you. Just give us a call.”
