Shealyn Brackett, a third grade student at Harlan Elementary School, organized a 5K run on Oct. 6 as a community service project through her HES Girl Scout troop. Participants dressed up as superheroes and were given medals. All proceeds went to the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Local Shriners recently attended an HES morning meeting where Brackett presented them with a $500 check. The shriners awarded her a trophy and T-shirts to be giving to the third grade for her donation and willingness to give back to her community and help others.
