Black Bears rally for victory at Pike

Harlan County broke a two-game losing streak by rallying for an 8-5 win Wednesday at Pike Central.
The Bears took the lead for good with a five-run sixth inning after Pike Central went ahead with a four-run fourth inning.
Zac Collett and Garry Henson led the 6-12 Bears a double and single each. Justin Brown, Tyler Casolari, J Harris and Matthew Simpson added one single each.
Brayden Blakley started on the mound for the Bears and gave up five runs (three earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts. Harris struck out three and allowed three hits in 3 1/3 shutout innings to earn the win
Harlan County lost a 16-8 slugfest at home against Knott Central on Monday.
Jordan Steele hit a home run to lead the Bears. Michael Simpson added a double.
Jon Wilder suffered the loss as he gave up six runs. Tristan Cooper, Jordan Steele and Quinton Boggs also pitched for the Bears.
The Bears were limited to three hits a 15-0 four-inning loss last week at Knox Central.
Collett led HCHS with a double. Brown and Boggs each had singles.
Harris suffered the loss as he gave seven runs in 1 1/3 innings. Blakley allowed six runs in 1 1/3 innings. Boggs allowed two runs in two-thirds of an inning.
Harlan County travels to Letcher Central on Saturday and will play the Cougars and Clay County.
