Lady Bears sweep two games at LMU

HARROGATE, TENN. — Harlan County opened play in the Lincoln Memorial University Team Camp with a pair of victories Monday, 39-23 over Pineville and 34-30 over Thomas Walker, Va.
Morgan Blakley and Jacey Lewis each scored 12 points in the win over Pineville. Lewis hit four 3-pointers and Hannah Wood added three as she contributed nine points. Kassy Owens scored four points. Kelly Beth Hoskins and Jaylin Smith added one each.
Blakley scored 17 to lead HCHS against Thomas Walker. Wood and Owens added five points each. Hoskins scored three. Aaliyah Cloud scored two. Lewis and Smith added one each.
Harlan County led by nine late in the game before Thomas Walker pulled within two and had the ball in the closing seconds before Lewis sealed with win with a steal and pass to Blakley for a layup.
Harlan County won two of three in junior varsity action, defeating Cumberland Gap, Tenn. and Claiborne, Tenn. and losing to 40-28 to Bell County.
Harlan County will play Catholic Central and Barbourville in varsity scrimmages Tuesday.

The Harlan boys varsity team won a pair of games Monday at the Barbourville Team Camp, defeating Red Bird and Thomas Walker, Va. No scoring information was available.
The Dragons will play Barbourville and Jackson County on Tuesday.
