Green Dragons fall to Phelps

Visiting Phelps built a 21-2 halftime lead and then had to hold on in the second half as Harlan battled back before falling 27-18.
Seth Mayhorn gave the visiting Hornets an early lead when he scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter. Will Gooslin’s kick put Phelps on top 7-0.
Christian Land went in from the 3 later in the opening quarter. The two-point conversion attempt failed but the Hornets led 13-0.
The Harlan defense started the scoring for the Dragons as junior linebacker Britt Lawson broke through for a safety.
Phelps scored again on a 1-yard run by Riley Dotson.
Juan Bynum helped bring the Dragons back as he scored on a 7-yard run in the third quarter, then added the two-point conversion.
Bynum caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Connor Scearse in the fourth quarter. Scearse added the two-point conversion.
Harlan (0-3) will travel to Middlesboro on Friday. Phelps (2-0) plays at Martin County on Friday.
