Resurfacing project on U.S. 421 in Harlan began Wednesday

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that a resurfacing project on U.S. 421 (mile points 7.278 – 14.103) in Harlan County began Wednesday and is expected to conclude Nov. 1.

Intermittent lane closures will take place during the project while work hours will be Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. The date, time and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.

Mountain Enterprises has been awarded the $2.3 million contract.

KYTC asks motorists to be aware of the work zone, expect delays and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.
