Harlan, HC runners set records in Middlesboro

Personal and school records abounded for both local cross country programs in the final meet of the regular season Tuesday at Middlesboro.
Harlan senior Lucy Bryson set a new school record in her final regular season race for the Dragons. Junior Ella Morton also broke the previous school record in the race.
Harlan returns to action in the Class A Region 6 Championship meet Oct. 26 at Wayne County.
The Harlan County girls program also saw a school record fall, as seventh-grader Peyton Lunsford posted a time of 20:54.50 for the Lady Bears. Other Harlan County runners setting new personal records included Caleb Brock, Daniel Joseph, Matt Yeary, Logan Hensley, Lucas Epperson, Ariel Madden, Baili Boggs, Lainey Garrett and Peyton Griffin.
Middle school runners setting new PRs for Harlan County included Bradley Brock, Mary Gross and Kaydie Coots. Ethan Farley competed for Harlan. Elementary runners Tanner Daniels, Dashaun Smith, Carson Sanders, Timothy Hickson, Kaylob Stevens, Zakk Collins, Alice Gross and Anna Gross set new marks as well.
Full results were not available online for the Middlesboro meet.
Harlan County’s middle and elementary school runners will participate in the KTCCCA Meet of Champions in Lexington on Saturday. The varsity programs will run in the Class 3A Region 7 Championship meet, which is also slated for Oct. 26 at Wayne County.
