With Love from Harlan, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those in need, was announced on Monday as one of five charity finalists to potentially receive a $10,000 donation from Sonny’s BBQ Spirit of BBQ: Giving Tuesday Edition.
Pam Massingale, a With Love from Harlan board member, said members of the nonprofit first heard about the contest through Facebook, adding the groups friends and Facebook followers began to nominate them for the award.
“Winning a contest like this would be amazing for our organization and the people we share, so we shared the post,” Massingale said. “We were thrilled to discover that we have now made it as one of the top five contestants. We are even more humbled by the huge amount of support we have already received in this short amount of time.
“We are a small group with big dreams for Harlan County, and $10,000 could make those dreams a reality.”
Leslie Bledsoe, founder of the organization, said “we never expected to be in the top five.”
“Win or lose, our hearts are full from the outpouring of love that’s been shown to us,” she said.
With Love from Harlan, along with the four other nominated charities, are now in the “voting round” where the public decides who the winner is.
If you would like to vote for With Love from Harlan to help them receive the $10,000 donation, find “Sonny’s BBQ” on Facebook and cast your vote by “liking” the picture of the charity of your choice by Dec. 2 at 11:59 p.m.
