Do you know someone at risk of an overdose?
Substance abuse, particularly the abuse of prescription drugs, is one of the most critical public health issues facing Kentucky. Over the past decade, the number of Kentuckians who die from drug overdoses has steadily climbed to more than 1,000 each year, exacting a devastating toll on families, communities, social services and economic stability and growth.
The Kentucky Department for Public Health, the Kentucky Pharmacist Association and the Harlan County Health Department will be offering free Naloxone education and Naloxone nasal spray kits (NarcanTM), as well as information on local drug treatment options. Naloxone is the opioid overdose reversal drug used to help save lives from overdose due to substance abuse.
The 15 to 20-minute education and kits will be offered on Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Harlan Center.
For more information, you may contact the Harlan County Health Department at 606-573-3700
