Harlan Independent students participate in SKMA All-Festival Choir

Four students from the Harlan Independent School participated in the 70th annual Southeastern Kentucky Music Association’s All-Festival Choir in Corbin. Twenty-two schools were represented in the three-day choral festival.
The SATB Choir was directed by Dr. Tony Cunha who currently directs the Campbellsville University Chorale and the Kentucky Baptist Men’s Chorale. He teaches courses in worship arts, conducting, and musicology.
Dr. Cunha has a Bachelor of Sacred Music degree from the North Brazil Seminary and his BA in Music Education degree from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil. He received the Master of Music (conducting) and Dr. of Philosophy (musicology) degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas
Marilyn Schraeder, choral director at Harlan Independent Schools, was the accompanist. Schraeder has accompanied the SATB Choir for 48 years and is beginning her 50th year teaching at the Harlan Independent School.
Abigail Baker, a senior in the Harlan Musettes, participated in the SATB Choir. Boys Choir members participating were Jon Lewis, Shane Lindsey and Jeremiah Mills.
