Eagles rally for victory over Harlan

The visiting Harlan Green Dragons led 43-37 after three quarters on Saturday at Leslie County, but the Eagles used a 26-12 outburst in the final period to claim a 63-55 win on Saturday.

Junior guard Trenton Day powered the Eagles with 23 points. Jason Baker poured in 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Trent Asher and Wyatt Hensley each added 11 points.

Senior center Jon Eldredge led the Green Dragons with 19 points. Jordan Akal scored 18.

The Eagles hit 20 of 41 shots from the field for 49 percent. Leslie County connected on 20 of 29 free throws.

Leslie took an 18-15 advantage after one quarter and pushed the lead to 30-24 at haltime.

Harlan outscored the Eagles 19-7 in the third period.

Both teams will return to action Monday. Harlan (12-14) travels to North Laurel (19-8). Leslie County (11-15) plays host to Buckhorn (14-14). Both games are set for 7:30 p.m.

Freshman guard Kyler McLendon scored 17 points while Johann Gist and John Mark Bryson added 12 each as Harlan (3-5) won 55-42 in junior varsity action. Matthew Pennington and Jayden Ward each chipped in with six. Trey Barnes scored two.

Andrew Hacker led Leslie County with 11 points. Tye Myers scored seven. Dillion Smith and David Brock tossed in five each. Christian Lewis and Dalton Maggard each scored four. Landry Collett, Dillion Baker and Brady Davidson chipped in with two each.
