Have you ever wondered what a simple act of kindness could do for one single person? Living in such a cruel world provides all the incentives for you to be kind. From holding the door open for someone to simply asking “How was your day?” could change someone’s outlook on life. Nobody has a clue what people face every day, and sometimes they just need a simple hug or the opportunity to reach out to someone when they need to.
We live in such a hurtful, criticizing and judgment-filled world sometimes, but wouldn’t you like to stand up for what is right and make a change? So many people claim that they want to change the world, but they never support their claim with actions. Start off by doing simple tasks such as paying for someone’s coffee, giving up your seat on the bus for an elderly person, hug your parents or going to sit with the kid who is sitting alone. You could also ask how your friend is doing, wave to your teacher in the hallway, call your grandparents, say thank you to the lunch lady and so much more.
Showing kindness simply means that you are putting yourself aside for just a few moments to make someone else feel worthy and loved. Just imagine that you could possibly be the only person who spreads kindness or shows the light of Jesus to somebody in their life. You don’t know how people are treated at home or the struggles they face, so wouldn’t you want to try to be the light in someone’s life and someone whom they can depend on?
Life is too short to be so caught up in the materialistic problems in life. Having peace and spreading love and kindness with yourself and others can bring much more happiness than what the world offers to us. Always be thankful for what you have today because it may not always be there tomorrow. Don’t live knowing you have problems with someone because you may never get the chance to fix it. Forgiveness is one of the hardest things to do but it can be the best once it is done. Live life to its fullest potential. Don’t be afraid of what is out there or let something hold you back from following your dreams. With the right mindset and goals, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
Now, don’t get me wrong. It is not always easy when you try to do the right thing and be kind to everybody. I struggle with it every single day. But knowing that you give it your very best and try to do good is all that you can do. The Bible says in Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” When you are kind to others, they may want to spread kindness back. That is not always the case, but most of the time if you treat people how you would want to be treated, the outcome will be positive.
