Rosspoint Elementary School eighth grader Anna Day was recently chosen as a winner of Scholastic Inc. Scope’s Paired Texts Contest from the December 2019/January 2020 issue. Day, a student in Malissa Lewis’ class, along her fellow students submitted essays to the contest, with her winning entry addressing similarities between Big Tobacco and the e-cigarette industry. Kristin Lewis, editorial director for Scope, called Day’s work “interesting and informative. Great work!” She encouraged Day to continue reading and writing and thanked her for helping to make the contest a success. Day also received a prize copy of “Shouting at the Rain” by Lynda Mullaly Hunt.
