As a result of the continued uncertainty around COVID 19, the 2020 Harlan County Community Scholarship Banquet scheduled for May 14, has been cancelled. However, scholarships will still be awarded to selected seniors from the class of 2020. Additionally, the scholarship application deadline has been extended to Thursday, April 30. Scholarship applications must be submitted to School Guidance counselors on or before Thursday, April 30.
On behalf of the Harlan County Community Scholarship Fund, I am pleased to announce that despite the cancellation of the banquet this year, we will still award much needed funds to students across Harlan County. More than $10,000 in scholarship funds will be awarded through Harlan County Community Scholarship funds to deserving seniors.
Recipients will be announced no later than Friday, May 15.
Questions about the fund may be directed to Ken Jones by calling 573-2838, Harlan County Schools Supt. Brent Roark at 573-4330, extension 2018, or Harlan Independent Schools Supt. C.D. Morton at 573-8700, extension 6204.
If you have any questions, you can reach me any time.
Sincerely,
C.D. Morton
Harlan County Community Scholarship Fund, President
