Bell County junior right-hander Joseph Brigmon was all to happy to add to Harlan County’s offensive woes this season, pitching a one-hitter as the Bobcats completed a two-game district sweep with a 4-0 win Tuesday over the visiting Black Bears.
Brigmon struck out seven and walked three as he faced only four batters over the minimum in a complete-game effort. Aiden Craig’s single was the only hit for the 4-9 Bears.
Zayden Casolari, a sophomore right-hander, pitched well in a loss as he gave up four runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and two walks in a complete-game effort.
Brigmon also led the 8-7 Bobcats at the plate with three singles. Cooper Brock had a triple, while Jackson Walters added a double. Brayden Carrolll and Hunter Fuson contributed one single each.
Brock tripled and scored on Walters’ double in the fourth inning to break open a scoreless game. Brigmon brought home Walters with a single.
Brigmon opened a two-run sixth inning with a two-out single. After Carroll walked, Fuson singled home a run. Carroll scored the final run on a double steal with Fuson.
Harlan County will play host to South Laurel on Thursday. Bell County will be at home against Knox Central on Friday.
