It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, Eva Sue Powell Turner, as she slipped out of this world with the family by her side. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and her loving husband, Charles, on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the age of 90. Eva was born to the late, Virgil and Cuma Kirk Powell, in Cranks Kentucky, on Feb 3, 1935. She was proceeded in death by her husband and childhood sweetheart of 70 years, Charles Turner, brother Alvin Powell, sisters, Shirley Barrett, and Joyce Andrews, a grandchild, Samara Pace. She was a long-standing member of the Friendship Baptist Church, of Jonesville where she served as a choir member and enjoyed being a Sunday School and VBS teacher, touching the lives of young children for many years. She loved volunteering at the Lee County Community Hospital. She was a loyal member of the LCCH Pink Ladies, where she served many hours and enjoyed taking care of the gift shop. She was recognized for over 11,500 hours of dedicated service. Her favorite past time was being a member of a local bowling team and had participated in the Virginia Women’s Bowling Association State Championships for several years. Eva is survived by her son, Bobby Turner Sr and wife Sue, of Jonesville,VA, her daughter, Lana Pace and husband, Johnny of Harlan, Ky, her grandchildren, Bobby Turner Jr, and wife, Crystal, of Locust Grove, VA, Amy Turner Blevins, of Bozeman, MT, Nicole Clontz, and husband, Adam, of Jonesville, VA, Kari Douglas, and husband, Darrell, of Cawood, Ky, her great grandchildren, Abbie and Conner Blevins, of Bozeman, MT, Molly Turner, Cohen Turner, and wife, Maggie, of Locust Grove, VA, Emma Clontz, of Jonesville, VA, Kadyn Douglas, of Cawood, KY, and great great-grandchild, Calliope Turner, of Locust Grove, VA. She is also survived by sisters, Carnette Morehart, of Upper Sandusky, OH, and Ivory Myers, of Harlan, KY, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A very special thanks to her loving daughter-in-law, Sue, for selflessly giving full-time care both day and night to Eva, for 6 years. The family would also like to thank caregivers, Deb Short, Barb Combs, Shannon Johnson, and Helen Leedy, and nurses, Ashley Hill and Taylor Gilliam, for the kindness, loving care and friendship so freely given to Eva during her last days. The family of Eva Turner will receive friends on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Mullins – Sturgill funeral home in Pennington Gap, VA from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. for the visitation. (298 Harrell St. Pennington Gap) The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Charles Barrier officiating. Special music will be provided by Crystal Huff. Her burial will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, A funeral procession will meet at Mullins-Sturgill Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. and travel to the cemetery.
