Hazard rallies for win over Patriots

New Harlan built a 3-0 lead Monday at Hazard but could not hang on as the Bulldogs rallied for a 4-3 victory in middle school baseball action.

Isaac Kelly, Caleb Brewer and Noah Brewer had one single each for the Patriots.

Thomas Jordan gave up three runs in two innings on the mound. Colby Johnson pitched two shutout innings. Daven Johnson allowed one run in one inning.

Redskins edge Lee to even record at 1-1

Cumberland evened its record at 1-1 with a 10-9 win Monday over visiting Lee, Va., in middle school baseball action.

Shawn Carroll, Nazareth Sanchez, Jesse Franks and Patrick Mandrell each had hits for the Redskins.

Tyler Lunsford struck out four and walked five in 2 2/3 innings. Alex Creech earned the win as he struck out four and walked one in 2 1/3 innings.
