Tommie Chaffin, 40, appeared in front of Harlan Circuit Judge Kent Hendrickson for sentencing recently. Chaffin was represented by her attorney, Will Seidelman. Commonwealth’s Attorney Parker Boggs handled the matter for the state.

According to the probation revocation order, Chaffin did not comply with the terms and conditions of her probation.

Chaffin was granted probation and placement in the drug court program on March 1, 2017, after entering a plea of guilty in Harlan Circuit Court on May 21, 2015, to second-degree trafficking controlled substance (greater than 20 pills), according to the final judgment order.

Chaffin was sentenced to a total of four years imprisonment following her charges, plus restitution in the amount of $225 to Kentucky State Police at a rate of $25 per month plus 5 percent service fee through the Harlan Circuit Court Clerk’s Office as stated by the probation revocation order.

According to an Affidavit of Violations report from Carol Witt, drug court program supervisor, on April 20, 2017, Chaffin failed to abide by the terms and conditions of her probation. Witt stated Chaffin failed to comply with the terms of drug court, including positive and missed drug screens, missed meetings and missed scheduled sessions with the drug court staff. Witt added Chaffin absconded from the program.

Hendrickson revoked Chaffin’s probation. Chaffin was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections to complete the remainder of her four-year sentence, according to the probation revocation order.

In other court activity, a man is facing up to 10 years imprisonment in Harlan County Circuit Court.

William McCall, 58, of Cumberland, appeared in front of Harlan Circuit Court Judge Kent Hendrickson for sentencing. McCall was represented by his attorney, Linda West. Commonwealth’s Attorney Parker Boggs handled the case for the state.

On Jan. 17, McCall entered a plea of guilty, according to the final judgment order.

McCall was charged with first-degree trafficking controlled substance (greater than 2 grams methamphetamine), second-degree trafficking controlled substance (less than 20 pills), two counts illegal trafficking of legend drug, three counts possession of controlled substance without proper container, possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree persistent felony offender.

Charges stemmed from acts committed on Oct. 17, 2015.

Hendrickson sentenced McCall to 10 years in prison.
