Seventh grade writing students from Rosspoint Elementary School were given an assignment to choose a business that they thought would be successful in Harlan County. Students worked in groups to discuss their ideas and talked about issues such as location, economic impact, local resources, target customers, etc. Students wrote an informative/explanatory essay about the business they had chosen. Harlan County Judge-Executive Dan Mosley came to visit the classes. Students had an opportunity to share a brief description of their business ideas. He spoke to the students about the challenges that the county faces recruiting businesses to locate in our area and how the county is working to overcome those challenges. He gave the students some feedback and encouragement about their ideas.
