Tri-City Little League season opens

The Tri-City Little League season opened Saturday with a day full of scrimmages before the season starts this week. Eleven teams, spread over three levels, saw their first action of the spring.
The Benham Lodge Dodgers defeated the Lynch Church of God Braves 15-6. Carson Clark struck out seven and walked three to earn the win in the two-inning scrimmage.
Christian Teaster led the Dodgers’ offense with three singles and three runs. Liam Garland drove in four runs and scored three with a triple and single. Kaden Boggs drove in three runs with a double and single. Clark drove in three runs with a double and single. Elijah Creech singled twice. Tristen Saunders had a double. Colbie Clay added a single.
Landon Boggs had two singles for the Braves. James-Ryan Howard and Jackson Deal added one each.
Hayden Cornet and Howard shared mound duty.
The Marshall Auto Group Yankees downed the Dodgers 2-0 as Brayden Casolari, Peyton Jackson and Alex Creech teamed on the shutout.
Brayden Casolari led the Yankees’ offense with a triple.
Kaden Boggs had a single for the Dodgers. Liam Garland struck out eight and walked five as he pitched three innings.

Regular season play in the Tri-City Little League opened in exciting fashion Monday as the Benham Lodge Dodgers scored in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge the Marshall Auto Group Yankees 7-6. Tristen Sanders drove in Kaden Boggs with the winning run.
Saunders led the Dodgers with a triple and two singles. Boggs singled three times. Christian Teaster, Liam Garland, Carson Clark, Mason Baldwin and Danny Collins added one single each.
Clark struck out four and allowed two hits in two innings to earn the win. Garland fanned 10 and allowed one hit in four innings.
Brayden Casolari, Alex Creech and Peyton Jackson led the Yankees with singles.
Creech struck out eight and allowed six runs in three innings. Jackson struck out four in 1 1/3 innings. Casolari fanned one in one inning.
