Harlan County’s Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC) recently sponsored Babyfest 2019 at the Harlan County Extension Depot.
Babyfest 2019 was held on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for new or expecting parents (children ages 0-3). The free event consisted of various door prizes, gifts, games, food, information booths and guest speakers.
Those in attendance had a chance to walk from booth-to-booth, receiving free information pamphlets and gifts, including tooth brushes, toys, clothes, books, snacks and more.
Attendees were also able to put their names in for a number of drawings, anything from smaller baby items to car seats.
Pizza, pasta salad, chips, fruit, cake and punch were provided for lunch.
Overall, attendees seemed very pleased with the outcome of the event and even look forward to Babyfest in the coming years.
“It was a good event for the community, since we are a poverty-stricken area. I think it will definitely help young parents in years to come,” said one expecting parent.
Participants in the event included the Harlan County HANDS Program, community FRYSC, Harlan ARH, Humana, Club 180, KCEOC, the Harlan Public Library, Harlan 4-H and a handful of others.
