Former Cumberland all-stater Charles Tinsley was the featured speaker during the annual Passing for a Purpose Camp held Saturday at Coal Miners Memorial Stadium. Tinsley was a football and baseball standout at Cumberland and spent two years in the Philadelphia Phillies organization after being selected in the draft. After leaving baseball, Tinsley returned to football and played outside linebacker at Eastern Kentucky University.
Former Harlan County High School quarterback Scott Bailey, who went on to play at the University of the Cumberlands, worked with Carter Howard during the Passing for a Purpose Camp held Saturday at Harlan County High School. Harlan County coach Eddie Creech said 102 campers attended.
