A Cawood woman was arrested after a trooper, accompanied by social services, allegedly found her using what he believed to be methamphetamine and marijuana while her children were inside her residence.

Vengie Sizemore, 38, was arrested by Kentucky State Police trooper William Pope on July 26.

According to the citation, Pope was dispatched to assist social services with a complaint stating Sizemore was allegedly using drugs while her children were also inside the residence. Pope stated he did a walk-through of the home to ensure the safety of both himself and social services workers.

Pope said he found Sizemore attempting to hide a brown tin container behind a few shampoo bottles in her bedroom, later found to contain a white bag with a crystal substance in it believed to be methamphetamine. The container also possessed a green straw. Sizemore allegedly had another green straw with white substance inside of it, also believed to be methamphetamine.

Pope stated in his citation that Sizemore advised him of a wooden box under a table in the bedroom containing marijuana and other items used to smoke marijuana.

Sizemore was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.

Sizemore was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $1,500 full-cash bond.
