A woman was recently arrested after allegedly giving police false identifying information and then trying to flee.

Dana Caldwell, 37, of Crummies, was arrested by Kentucky State Police trooper William Pope and Lt. Alfred Bunch on Aug. 2.

According to the citation, Bunch requested assistance during a traffic stop at Family Dollar, where he had pulled Caldwell over for a cracked windshield, broken back window and missing front bumper. Pope said Caldwell could not produce a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and she advised him that the car was hers but had not been transferred into her name. Caldwell then allegedly told officers her name was Skylar Caldwell with her birthday being May 19, 1993.

While officers were attempting to locate a valid I.D. at Pope’s cruiser, Caldwell allegedly fled on foot to the Hardee’s parking lot where she hid behind a gold passenger car. Pope said he and Bunch were able to physically restrain her after she ignored their commands to stop. Caldwell was placed under arrest and put into Pope’s cruiser.

Caldwell’s identity was later confirmed by Chris Allen’s wrecker services.

Caldwell was charged with obstructed vision and/or windshield, license to be in possession, second-degree fleeing/evading police (on foot), failure to produce insurance card, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, failure to register transfer of motor vehicle, improper equipment and giving an officer false identifying information.

Caldwell was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with no bond set.

In other police activity:

• Millard Tackett, 22, of Harlan, was arrested by Harlan County Sheriff’s Department deputies on July 30. He was charged with second-degree burglary and was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with a $5,000 full-cash bond;

• Robert Clem, 58, of Baxter, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on July 30. He was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified), prescription controlled substance without proper container, operation of motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to wear seat belts. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with a $1,500 full-cash bond;

• Edward Hensley, 45, of Baxter, was arrested by Harlan City Police Department officers on Aug. 1. He was charged with second-degree assault and was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with an unsecured bond of $5,000;

• Neal Creech, 30, of Partridge, was arrested by Cumberland Police Department officers on Aug. 1. He was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine). He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with a $1,500 full-cash bond;

• Liberty Miracle, 40, of Whitley, was arrested by Harlan County Detention Center officials on Aug. 2. She was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, operation of motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol, failure to register transfer of motor vehicle, failure to produce insurance card, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, no registration receipt, no registration plates and speeding (10 mph over limit). She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $3,500 full-cash bond with bail credit;

• Eric Holbrook, 33, of Redfox, was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers on Aug. 2. He was charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance (opiates), operation of motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs/alcohol, driving on suspended license (DUI), failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance, prescription controlled substance without proper container, illegal possession of legend drug, second-degree disorderly conduct, first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), public intoxication of controlled substance (excluding alcohol) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $3,000 full-cash bond with bail credit and $5,000 surety bond;

• Matthew Whitaker, 33, of Eolia, was arrested by Cumberland Police Department officers on Aug. 2. He was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid and first-degree fleeing/evading police (motor vehicle). He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full-cash bond;

• Ronnie Penny, 34, of Evarts, was arrested by Evarts Police Department officers on Aug. 5. He was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), second-degree fleeing/evading police, disregarding a stop sign, third-degree criminal trespassing, no registration plates, failure to/improper signal, reckless driving and failure to comply with helmet law (over 21 years of age). He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with an unsecured bond of $1,500;

• Jackie Duff, 34, of Cumberland, was arrested by Cumberland Police Department officers on Aug. 5. He was charged with a parole violation for felony offense and was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with no bond set.
