Corbin scored on its first three possessions Tuesday on the way to a 22-0 victory over New Harlan in seventh- and eighth-grade football action at Coal Miners Memorial Stadium.
The Redhounds scored on a 10-play drive to open the game, using a procedure penalty on a third-and-long play to keep the series alive. Jacob Shoemaker, Deon Brown, Will Cassim and Carter Howard had stops in the drive, but the Redhounds continued marching until Zander Curry teamed with Tyler Rose for a 22-yard touchdown pass. Ethan Gregory added the two-point conversion.
Bradrick Helton scored on a 17-yard run early in the second quarter to push the lead to 14-0. Samuel Henson made the stop on the two-point attempt.
Mike Neal went in for the final Corbin touchdown late in the first half. Evan Baker went in for the two-point conversion.
Brown had a nice kickoff return for the Patriots to near midfield, but the Patriots were unable to convert it into points as a Corbin interception ended the half. Howard made a tackle after the turnover.
Lightning forced a delay at halftime and the game was eventually called due to the weather.
New Harlan (2-1) plays Willliamsburg on Saturday in the Bell County Bowl.
