Kitchen Corner

As a scrolled through my Facebook feed this week, I noticed numerous people making comments about the transition of summer to fall. The air is certainly crisper. People are wearing light jackets on boat rides now. Some of the trees are starting to change from green to falls warm oranges and yellows.

And I’ve even noticed a few eager women pulling out the pumpkin and leaf decorations in their homes. Even though fall is right around the corner, the truth is we are still getting some days that are above 90 degrees where you want nothing more than to sit by the pool.

I thought this week I would find a recipe that was a good seasonal transition. I wanted something that reminded you of the warmth and smells of fall, but gave you that cooling fresh feeling you need in the summer heat. I think I found the perfect treat.

Autumn Harvest Punch

Ingredients: 3 cups of lemonade, 5 cups of apple cider, 1 cup of orange juice 5 cups of sparkling water, ¼ cup of maple syrup, 3 rosemary sprigs, 3 apples, 1 orange.

Instructions: In a tall pitcher mix the apple cider with the orange juice and lemonade, and set aside. Slice the apples and oranges and add them to the pitcher. Mix in the maple syrup (this should be true maple syrup not pancake syrup) and add rosemary sprigs. Cover and set in the refrigerator for two to four hours or until chilled. Add the sparkling water, stir and enjoy. This is the perfect refreshing drink to enjoy on the back porch as summer fades and autumn arrives in all its beauty. I hope you enjoy!
