Hatfield Golf Scramble scheduled

The first annual Kevin Hatfield Memorial Golf Scramble, sponsored by the Harlan County boys basketball team, will held Sept. 28 at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course.

Registration for the four-man scramble will be at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30. The entry fee is $400 per team and $100 for individuals. The entry fees and mulligan purchases benefit the HCHS basketball team.

Large prizes are planned for first- and second-place teams.

Jones powers Trojanettes to victory

Kylie Jones scored 13 points to lead James A. Cawood in a 43-8 rout of Black Mountain on Thursday in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Jaiden Marlow scored 11 to lead the Trojanettes to a 33-14 win in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Addison Campbell led Black Mountain with 12 points.

Harlan fell 41-30 at Fleming-Neon in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Thursday.

Ella Karst led the Lady Dragons with 22 points.

Fleming-Neon rolled to a 27-1 win in fifth- and sixth-grade action and won 26-10 in a fourth-grade game.
