Lady Bears complete sweep of Middlesboro

Harlan County completed a regular season sweep of Middlesboro on Tuesday, defeating the visiting Lady Jackets 25-14, 25-21, 25-11.

Olivia Minor led the Lady Bears with 37 digs, six aces, 17 assists and two kills. Dixie Ewing added 29 digs, four aces, six assists and 11 kills. Serenity Whitehead had 23 digs, three aces, six kills and two blocks. Paighton Freeman added 18 digs, three aces, five kills and one assist. Brenna Early had nine digs, five aces and six assists. Lindsey Browning added 11 digs, one ace and one block. Carlee Stevens had six digs, one ace and two kills.

Harlan County improved to 3-15 on the season. Middlesboro fell to 2-14.

The Lady Bears fell 25-19, 25-27, 25-13, 25-17 on Tuesday at Williamsburg.

Minor led HCHS with 48 digs, two aces, 26 assists and one block. Whitehead had 23 digs, 13 assists, five kills and three blocks. Ewing had 21 digs, six assists, one kill and two aces. Early added 21 digs,, six assists, two aces, one kill and one block. Browning had 19 digs, seven assists and two kills. Freeman added 20 digs, four assists and four kills. Stevens contributed three digs, one ace, two kills and one block.

Harlan improved to 10-8 on the season with a 25-13, 25-20, 25-15 win Monday over visiting Barbourville. The Lady Dragons fell 25-14, 25-12, 25-14 to visiting Oneida Baptist on Tuesday. No scoring information was submitted on either match. The Lady Dragons close the regular season Thursday at Knox Central.

The district tournament is set for next week.
