HCHS students are Swappin’ Meetin’ winners

Several Harlan County High School students were among the winners in the 53rd annual Kingdom Come Swappin’ Meetin’ art contest, titled this year as the “Many Mountains, Many Stories Swappin’ Meetin’ Art Contest.”
“I feel very proud of my students and happy to see their work displayed for others in the community,” said HCHS art instructor Sue Lintelman. “It is great to see the my students receive ribbons for their outstanding work.”
Senior Whitley Eldridge received this year’s best in show blue ribbon with her “outstanding painting of a full moon over a mountain,” according to Lintelman.
Madison Tolliver, a junior, placed first with what Lintelman described as a “gorgeous painting of a copper mountain.”
Katera Massengale earned a second-place ribbon for her drawing of a black bear, the HCHS mascot.
Leslie Short, a sophomore, received a third-place ribbon with a “colorful and unique mountain view.”
Other students who entered paintings included Zackary Carmical, Twisted Tree; Nikki Creech, Over Easy; Brittany Dummitt, Bird of Prey; Maci Osborn, Woodland Trees; Randi Rowe, Night Kayaker, and Adia Watts, Autumn Walk.
