A tournament for seventh- and eighth-graders evolved into a showdown of sixth-graders on Tuesday in the semifinals of the county tournament at James A. Cawood Elementary School.

A week after leading the Evarts fifth- and sixth-grade team to a county championship, Evarts’ Kylie Noe took over in the fourth quarter of a showdown against top-seeded James A. Cawood. Noe scored 16 of her 22 points in the final period as the Lady Cats overcame a six-point deficit to win 42-40 and advance to the championship game Thursday against Rosspoint. Eighth-grade guard Isabelle Kirby added 17 points, including a clutch five of six at the free throw line.

Kylie Jones, a sixth-grader who has played with the seventh- and eighth-grade team all season, led JACES with 18 points, including several big shots late in the game to keep the game close. Taylor Lunsford and Skylar Shepherd added 10 and eight points, respectively.
