Juvenile arrested for threat at HCHS

A juvenile was taken into custody on Monday after allegedly making a threat against Harlan County High School. According to the press release, the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office was contacted Monday evening about a complaint in reference to a threat by a student at Harlan County High School.
Deputies immediately began an investigation, and a 15-year-old juvenile student was taken into custody by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office and charged with second-degree terroristic threatening. The court designated worker was contacted and the juvenile was lodged in the Breathitt County Juvenile Detention Center.
The sheriff’s office is working closely with school officials to handle this complaint.
“The safety of our children is our highest priority and all possible actions will be taken to ensure their safety. The sheriff’s office will continue to work closely with school officials to ensure safety and security at schools,” the press release states.
The case is still under investigation.
